Question:
Proximal vs. Medial.
I am trying to find some statistical data on the % of weight loss between these different types of intestinal by-pass. (Has anyone found any statistical data on the differences?) I am also curious of finding information on any difference these may have in long-term maintenance. I am specifically interested in hearing from people who have had anywhere from 25cm to 125cm intestinal by-pass (RNY) and how much difference it had in total weight-loss and long-term maintenance. If you fall in this category and have a moment to share your data I would greatly appreciate it. I thank you for your time. — Charlene M. (posted on October 22, 2001)

I don't understand centimeters, but I had 5 feet bypassed. I am just over
a year and 1/2 postop RNY and I'm in my ideal weight range. Best wishes.

Hello, I had 70 cm bypassed, I think that's like 14 feet or so. I had
surgery in late July of this year and have dropped 100 lbs. With 100 more
to go.

I had 75cm bypassed on 2/14/01 and I've lost 100 lbs. so far.

Guess I've got the advantage here, being from Europe and thus familiar with
the metric system! 70 cm is not even close to 14" but a merely about
2.2 feet. Try onlineconversion.com for all your conversion needs! :)
