Question:
How do you increase the volume on the incentive spirometer?

My doctor wants you to be able to get the volume to 4,000 pre-op, so you will do well for surgery. I am having trouble getting past 2,500. Any suggestions would be appreciated.    — Donna V. (posted on October 20, 2001)

Keep on practicing. The more you do it the stronger your lungs will get. It will be especially hard after surgery, just remember after your surgery that the more you do it the better you will get at it. Good luck!!
