Question:
My husband was recently included in a major layoff with his company. We will be
switching over to Cobra coverage. I'm in the beginning stages of my WLS journey. My initial surgeons appt is the end of the month. My question is, when my paper work is submitted to the insurance company will the fact that we are covered under the Cobra plan change the outcome of the approval? In other words, if they know I'm under Cobra will they deny me knowing my time is limited with them? Anyone had any experience with this. Thanks — [Anonymous] (posted on October 5, 2001)

I too have Cobra. As far as I know you can be on Cobra for 18 months or
until Medicare if that comes before. Your coverage is EXACTLY THE SAME as
if you were with your old companies insurance. It does not make any
difference. I have been to my 1st consult yet but I have been assured
there is no problem because of Cobra. Good luck. Good bless.
