Question:
Dr. Rabkin - was he your surgeon
I am considering Dr. Rabkin for my surgery but live out of state. Can you share your experience with me about him and his office? Thanks!!! — [Anonymous] (posted on September 15, 2001)

You will find many of Dr. Rabkin's patients on the patient page at
www.duodenalswitch.com as he only does DS surgery. By the way, I saw
somebody post yesterday that the DS is now called DGB/DS surgery. This is
NOT true. Dr. Rabkin has always called it this, but most other DS surgeons
use the phrase Biliopancreatic Diversion with Duodenal Switch (BPD/DS).
Whether referred to as DGB/DS or BPD/DS, it is precisely the same surgery!
Confusing, I know, but that's why be refer to ourselves as DS.

My surgical experience, and my husband's, were terrific. We were well
prepared, the surgeries went smoothly, and we have experienced no
complications. Rabkin and his team were very attentive in the hospital,
and I really do believe he is an extremely skilled surgeon, as well as
having an incredible expertise in this field. The people at his office are
wonderful - warm, caring and friendly. They are extraordinarily busy, and
the level of response sometimes lags as a result. -Kate-

I'm having a really horrible time dealing with Dr Rabkin and his office,
I'm now totaly convinced that I dont mater as a person and they will only
start looking at me when they have all the money in hand, on the other hand
that's my experience and it's a personal one. To balance out this
statement, let me tell you that even if it comes down to being barely a
money transaction I'm still choosing Dr Rabkin because according to my
research he's the best surgeon available to do the operation I want, a
little bit of human kindness and consideration would have been nice though.
