Question:
Anyone know about Dr. Rabkin in San Fransisco, California?
I have checked the list of surgeon here and also the library. I found him in www.duodenalswitch.com but would like to hear peoples thoughts on him from this site. Thanks! — Melissa T. (posted on September 10, 2001)

When I first began my search for a surgeon, I started out with Dr. Rabkin's
office. It did not take long for me to switch to Dr. Keshishian, who will
be doing my DS surgery in October.

Why? It is nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone in the office.
You do not get a person answering the phone, you get a voice mail and need
to leave a message. Dr. Rabkin asks for a fairly large amount of money up
front, even if you have insurance. I have heard that you wait hours in his
office before being seen. I have also heard that if you have insurance
problems, you are encouraged to deal with it yourself.

Dr. Keshishian is a very good, excellent surgeon and his staff is very
helpful. His program fee is $2000.00 vs Dr. Rabkins $3000.00 +.
