Question:
has anyone had Cigna POS? Did you have any problems getting accepted?
I am going to be in the beginning stages soon and I wanted to know if I will have any problems. I have a herniated disk, knee problems, asthma, hip problems, etc.I am very excited about this and can't wait to be on the other side. This site is wonderful. — [Anonymous] (posted on July 23, 2001)

I have Cigna and I was actually approved twice, both on the first
application. I originally applied through the Bariatric Treatment center
in Ill. But after being approved I decided it was way to far to drive for
the post-op checkups. So I switched hospitals and Dr.s and ended up having
to re-apply. My first approval took 6 weeks, the second approval took 3
weeks. I had less co-morbids than you list. Good luck!

I have Cigna too and was amazed that I got approved, with very few
co-morbidities and no supervised diet attempts within the last 5 years (or
ever!) I did, however, provide an extensive diet history going back 15
years, and wrote a personal letter detailing my struggle with my weight and
how it has affected my life. Also, I am 100+ lbs overweight. I had Cigna
PPO, and I hear that it's easier to get approved than with the HMO, or the
POS, which I believe is a cross between the HMO and PPO. But with your
co-morbs, and if you have a supervised diet attempt within the last 5
years, you shouldn't have a problem.
