Taking methadone preoperatively for pain management should not affect your
surgery directly in any way. However, your surgeon and anesthetist need to
be aware of your methadone use so that they can construct the best pain
management plan possible for you post-op. Your tolerance to the more
common pain medications used post-op will most likely be higher than
patients who are not accustomed to taking controlled drugs on a more
regular basis. Good luck!
