Question:
What should I expect right after the surgery

I had a Lap proximal RNY 10/99. I can only tell you what to expect from my
own experience. Each of us that has had one of the surgeries will have a
different tale to tell. Expect some pain after surgery, but this can be
controled with pain meds. I had muscle spasms at my drain site. Due to
these spasms I had trouble taking deep breaths. After they removed the
drain the muscle spasms stopped. You should expect to fatigue quickly.
Right after surgery I had to take breaks just to wash and blow dry my hair.
It took awhile before I felt hungry again and I couldn't tell at first
when I was full. I couldn't lie flat for a little over 2 weeks and took a
bit longer still to get back to sleeping on my stomach. Just remeber each
day gets better and the best thing to expect is weight loss at an
astonishing rate.
