Question:
Are you receiving any counseling along with the anti-depressant medication?
The medication cannot work properly alone. It seems as though you suffer from a poor self-image. The doctor you visited was a jerk, but you have to understand that only God's opinion of you matters, and God forms his opinion from what is in your heart, not how much you weigh or what you look like. Counseling would help you to see that your weight problem is only a small portion of who you are. I too am overweight and have been for most of my life. I have asked for approval for bariatric surgery because of my health. I want to feel better. My primary reason is not to look better, although that is definitely a perk. Please seek counseling to help to feel like a worthwhile person. You will be in my prayers. — [Anonymous] (posted on October 12, 1999)
