Sandy: Your on the right track doing research, but don't credit statements
that include "I heard of somebody who". You will get real
information if check ALL the sites. I know there are several VBG revisions
on the [email protected] list. As a pre-op, now is the time to
ask the questions until you get concrete answers. Many post-ops may not
have asked quite so many questions and prefer to justify the surgery they
got, re DS v RNY & Lap v OPEN. The lap v open debate is nonsensical.
They are the same surgery and the surgical goals are the same, only the
method differs. IMHO if you are lucky enough to get the procedure of your
choice done lap, who could ask for anything more. Of course surgeons who
are not equipped to perform lap are full of statements like "you will
be on the table too long" but this is not true. He means, you would
be on the table too long cause I am not an eminent lap surgeon and it would
take me forever to do it this way! My message is, when gathering
information -- consider the source.
