Does anyone know of a surgeon in Kansas

I am from Perry - between Lawrence and Topeka. I was told
there are no bariatric surgeons in the whole state of Kansas
and none in the Kansas City area. However, one gal from the
KC area anwered one of my questions and said she had the
procedure - which one I don't know - done by a surgeon at the Truman
Medical Center West. No surgeons appear on the
"board certified" list found on the American Association for
Bariatric Surgery; however, when I contacted a "board certi-
fied" surgeon's office in Colorado Springs, CO, the office
person said that particular office has two (or more?) "board
certified" surgeons, and the reason they weren't listed on
the AABS website - was because it was expensive to list multi-names, so
they just listed one. Anyway, I am in the
process of investigating "board certified" surgeons in the
Midwest. I am on the waiting list at the University of Iowa
Medical Center - where one of the pioneers in the surgery is
a professor emeritris (sp?) and has trained the other surgeons on staff
now. I have talked to a secretary in the
office of a Dr. Boyd Terry in Columbia, MO. They are
supposed to be sending me a packet of stuff to complete,
mail back and then set up a first consult appointment. I have tried to
reach a Dr. Gaines in Omaha, but haven't been
able to at this point. I understand there is a very good
surgeon in Tulsa, OK - a Dr. Grosope (sp?) I don't think I
want to go that far. I am very interested in Columbia. MO
and Iowa City, IA. I believe both of those hospitals are
attached to the major schools of medicine in each state and
my PCP says that type of hospital is where he would like me
to have mine done. If you need further info, email me at
