Question:
Medifat as a 2 yr Post Op?
Hi, I am 2 years out and down 125. I am thinking about using Medifast to loose the last 25 to reach my goal of 150. Has anyone used Medifast as a post op and what were your results. Thanks. — natjemison (posted on August 22, 2005)

Sorry, I didn't use Medifast post-op, but pre-op instead. I lost 42 lbs.
in 3 months, but gained it all back plus more. It left me feeling hungry
all of the time. When I was trying to get approval for my surgery, I was
looking back through all of the diets I had tried, and realized that I had
spent $1700 for the Medifast. It is very pricey. I would love to read
some responses from others who have tried it post-op to see how they did
with it also.

I did Medifast in 1999 and was very "successful." So successful
in fact that they featured me in their advertising. Part of the ad read,
"thank God I'll never have to staple my stomach!" Yeah, right.
Don't do it. It doesn't last. It came back fast and furious, even with
daily exercise. Try Weight Watchers instead.

I recently joined Weight Watchers to get the last 20 pounds off. You can
either "count" everything you eat, or just eat the core group and
not count. It's only been a couple of weeks, but it seems to keep me in
line knowing I have to weigh in front of someone. I have joined Weight
Watchers so many times, I would like .... just once ... to actually get a
goal pin. I didn't tell them about my surgery. It's none of their business.

I agree with other posts! To lose weight and keep it off you have to make
changes that you can sustain for the rest of your life. Drinking Medifast
to lose the last 25 would mean that you will probably have to maintain
weight at however many calories Medifast is (something like 500 calories or
so). Beleive me it ain't going to work. I would re-evaluate your goal
weight based on your age, daily activity level, and how heavy you were to
start with. How tall are you? are your bones petite? do you come from a
large family? I didn't run your numbers but if you have lost 65% of your
excess weight your surgery was sucessful. Terri Simpson has a new book out
"How to Lose the Last 30 Pounds" and I beleive it is available
from this site, if it is as good as his other book, I am sure it would be a
much better choice than Medifast.
