Question:
Does it hurt when you get your first fill for the lap band
I was just wondering if you feel the needle going in during a fill or do they numb it? — Mortrice R. (posted on April 29, 2005)

None of my three fills have hurt a bit. My surgeon does numb the area with
a shot, but it's just a little stick; having labs drawn hurts WAY worse.
(Some doctors use numbing cream as well; you can ask for it.) When the
fill needle goes in, you will feel a lot of pressure. It is a wierd
feeling, but I promise, it doesn't hurt. (Put it this way; my husband,
also Banded, is needle-phobic, and he didn't freak out even a little bit.

I just got my first fill. They didn't use any numbing cream at all. The
initial prick just hurt a tiny bit but overall it was not that bad at
all---really, it wasn't and I am a wimp!
