Question:
Has anyone ever only lost 50lbs total when you are 10 months out?

What's your eating program like? Protein first with no refined carbs? Do
you follow the pouch rules? Get your water in? Work out? If you're doing
everything right and still not losing well, I would check with the surgeon
to see if everything is OK (that your surgery is intact), especially since
your profile says you are distal.

What's you Dr. say about this? What is your WLS goal?

I would be very concerned. That is slow even for a "lightweight."
Contact your surgeon and ask to make sure that your pouch is in tact. You
don't give any details as to what you eat, etc.. so it's hard to help. Good
luck.

I saw where you were distal RnY .... sounds to me like you should push the
issue on the doc to see why you haven't lost so much... if he can't
satisfy you go get another opinion... definately something not right to be
distal RnY and be this slow. Good luck..and so sorry this isn't going as
fast....

At 10 months, I've lost 70 pounds and I think even that's a little slow.
However, you are a distal RNY (if your profile is correct) and normally,
distals lose more quickly than we proximals. Are you transected? Could
you have a staple line disruption? Are you tracking your calories to make
sure you're staying within a reasonable calorie range? What about water
and protein?
If you are confident that you are following the rules of protein first,
getting in 64 oz of water daily, keeping the carbs to healthy carbs
(fruits, veggies, whole grains) the majority of the time and are taking
your supplements as prescribed, then I would say you need to push your
surgeon to figure out what the problem is.
Have you had your labs checked recently? How are your thyroid levels?
Good Luck and keep us updated on your progress.

Hello,
Please do not be disappointed with your weight loss. I had a distal as
well and I lost 70 pounds although I eat near normal now and I do continue
to focus on the protein I feel my loss is for good. I recently had a baby
girl two weeks ago and I lost the 30 pounds I gained during pregnancy in
less then two weeks after I delivered. I will now focus on the protein as
always that is the key. Take Care!!!

Hi Deborah....I'm Deborah too! I was very stressed out with my weight loss
at about six months. Everyone else on the web and locals who had had
surgery had lost 100lbs! Well it took me about seven - eight months to do
it and it was really hard and I even started off with a very high BMI. I
went in at 14 mon for my one year check up and everyone (ha)was at their
goal, me I've got another 80 to loose!! What did I do wrong,I follow the
food plan, exercise cardo 70 min, weight training, no refined sugar...I was
told I need to remember I am 20 years older than most of these people I
compare myself too!! Check it out with your surgeons office, otherwise as
our support group leader says Be Happy
Where You Are At....I'm a size 18/20 used to a 34 and I'm 5'10" and
will be 50 next month happy you bet!
