Question:
Anyone 5'4
I had open RNY, 200cm bypassed on 7/29/03. At first my dreams were just to be healthy again. Now I am off all of my meds and life is great! I have lost 110#s! It does seem that the more I lose the higher my expectations get. Now I want more and I am really working hard to get there. I worry though that starting out at 320# that my goal is not reasonable. I weighed 150# 15 years ago and felt wonderful, I wore a size 10. Has anyone out there had about the same stats and made it to this goal? Thanks in advance, Joan — Joan R. I had open RNY, this is my 14th month and I've loss 189 lbs pre-op wt 400
lbs. and I WILL get to my goal wt 150 lbs LOL I have alot of
determinations, plus once I start something I finishes it, So hon try to
think positive you can do this. Just stay on track with the wls rules.
Proteins, water, exercice, vitamins. try to get strict on what you eat. Keep
determination in your head and heart. Good Luck

Joan- I don't see why you couln't shoot for this goal. I am 5 foot 4
inches. My "Official" start weight is 306. however, I KNOW I
weighed more than that at surgery. They just didn't weigh me. My educated
guess is I was about 315. Anyway, I digress. I had RNY in 11/18/02. I am
32 years old and currently 15 months post op. I weigh 148 lbs and wear a
size 10 or 8 pants and Small tops. I'm a "pear shape" kind of
gal, always have been. This weight and size is FABULOUS! I was happy back
at 180, honestly, this is better than I ever hoped for. My surgeon's goal
weight for me was 190- which would have been about a loss of 80% of my
excess. SO- work hard and keep your chin up! YOU CAN DO IT!

You CAN make it to your goal. I'm 5'3" and started at 282lbs. Had
surgery on 9/12/02 and now weigh 118, wearing a size 2. Keep up the great
work and you will make it to your goal!!!!!!

You can do it! I will have my 2 year anniversary next month. I am 5'5 and
weighed 314 at the time of surgery. I lost 160lbs and am now at 154.
Well, I should say that I fluctuate between 150 and 156 typically. I am
wearing size Small (4/6) in shirts and a comfortable size 6 in pants/jeans.
I am scheduled for my TT on April 22, and my PS told me to expect a loss of
about 5 to 8 lbs of skin. You can make it to your goal - just don't put
too much pressure on yourself - you can do it!

a size 8 in Jeans and S/M in a top. I was a size 26/28 and 310 pounds
before my surgery 16 mo. ago. My personal goal was 180. Life is Great! Good
luck and keep pressing on!

Joan, I am the same height, but started out weighing less. I have the same
expectations of myself as you do. I am now 28# from my goal and am working
real hard to get there. I feel that my goal is reasonable and I believe
that yours is not unrealistic, you will make it. By the way I went the Wish
Center also, but in Illinois. They have a fantastic program. If you feel
that you need some moral support give one of the staff a call and talk to
them or go to the next support group coming up and talk to some of the
other patients. Good luck. Chris

HI, You can meet your goals. I had lap GBS on 3-13-03. Beginning weight
327 now 173. My personal goal is 150 I am 5.7 and have a Appt with my
Primary Care Phy to determine what my goal weight should be 2-27-04. My
surgeon relocated to Arizona shortly after my GBS. I am so thankful that I
have had no Complications. Your goals are reasonable. Stick to the rules
& you will make it.
