Question:
12/12/03 LAP RNY, I am having pain under my left breast, anyone else experience this?
I am having pain under my left breast when I move fast or turn, laugh, cough or sneeze. There is also no incision where I am hurting....do you think this is just a sore muscle near the stomach area? I feel like my doctor left the staple gun hanging from my last rib! (HAHA!) I am able to walk fine, I am walking about 1 mile a day and no pain...till I cough, turn in a wrong way or even get out of bed or sit for a long period of time. Anyone else? Thanks — Sarah J. You should always ask your doctor about pain. I am sure they have a number
you can call, even if just to talk to a nurse at their office.

I had some pain in my left side until I was 4 weeks out. It wasn't bad
enough for me to take anything for it, it was just kinda annoying. I asked
my doctor about it on monday and she wasn't concerned (then 2 days later it
pretty much vanished!) (I had surgery Dec 4) as for there not being an
incsion, I asked my doc about this too (since my pain wasn't near an
incision) she said they kinda go in at an angle, so the work done isn't
really directly under and incision.

Just be cautious when it comes to pain, if it's bad, or lingers call your
surgeons office and ask them about it, you're always better off asking.
Better to be safe than sorry!

I had the same problem. My doc said that is where the stomach is and where
the surgery was done inside.

I also had a pain in approximatly the same area, my surgeon said that a rib
may have cracked or some cartlidge. He said it would take quite a while to
heal, now at 3 months it seems to be gone. Just ask your doc!

I agree with the others that responded. Call your dr.
just to make sure, but at the same time don't panic. I
am a year and 3mos out and I remember that pain. I was sure I had a tumor
or something. My dr. explained that due to the incisions on the inside you
will have residual pain at the incision site as well as surrounding
muscles. The first 3-6 mos are the most stressful 'cause you will feel
different pains and discomforts throughout. Good luck!

Hi! I had a lap rny on the 16th of Dec. and had the same thing. Still
have as a matter of fact. And I did ask the doctor if he left something in
me. Basically he said it's because of the insides being moved around, the
swelling etc. and things still need to heal. It hurt the most when I tried
using my incentive spirometer, I couldn't take a deep breath without it
feeling like someone stabbed a lung. It still hurts a little, especially
with the twisting or stretching but it is getting better.

I am 15 days po now. I have more of a discomfort from the G-Tube. Sometimes
it feels more like a burning sensation. I can't wait to get it out. It is
the only thing stressing me right now.
