Question:
LAP DS in Nebraska
Has anyone in Nebraska had lap DS? I am researching DS surgeons, and would prefer one that does lap. I am in the Omaha area. Thanks! CK — drjakata (posted on November 24, 2003)

Not to be argumentative, but a better source for all DS info is
http://duodenalswitch.com/ On the Surgeons list you'll find two in NE; plus
Dr Anthone, former head of Bariatrics at USC, has just joined Dr Sudan at
Creighton. At AMOS any surgeon can list himself and claim to do any
surgery; some say they do DS but really don't, or only do BPD, or have very
limited DS experience. At the other site they must show a proven track
record before being added to teh list. Another good info source is
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/duodenalswitch/ where you can ask
about people's experiences with specific surgeons. Many people are wanting
lap surgery these days, but remember that it's the inside job that's most
important! ;-) The size of your scar is nothing compared to the ultimate
size of your body. One word of caution: Dr Anthone is an excellent DS
surgeon who has recently begun experimenting with a longer 200cm common
channel. Most people with a CC longer than 100cm do not lose well, so if
you go to Creighton, be sure to ask about this. Lots of discussion on that
topic in the Yahoo group.
