Question:
ProComplex issues! It is so Nasty...How do I make myself drink it? Suggestion?

I am approved for surgery and have been to all evaluations with the surgeon and doctors in San Diego. They are supposed to be calling me in 2-3 weeks with my final surgery date. YES! HOWEVER, I was told to buy Pro Complex...Whoa! I hate it. It isnt good...and I dont know how I am going to be able to drink this stuff. Any suggestions? Alternatives?    — Trudy Z. COngratulations first of all. Are you going through Pacific Bariatrics? I had mine done there and they requested Procomplex. You are right it is nasty stuff. However I do manage to hide the flavor by adding banana, a dash of vanilla extract, maybe a small spoonful of sugar free ice cream, or some equal. A lot of ice helps as well. I also tried it with peppermint extract and it was pretty good. Experiment until you find something you like. Good Luck! 331/75/255.

I use MultiPower Formula 80+ Protein and Egg powder. It comes in Choc & Vanilla. I add skim milk and a dash of sweet and low and it is great. Good Luck!

I forgot to add-it has 25 grams of protein per serving.

Congratulations on your approval!!! I used PB also and was very happy with them (Yeah Dr. Mary!). I've actually learned to like ProComplex - how wierd is that? I'm almost 8 months out and find it a great breakfast and sometimes dinner. I just mix it with skim milk, stir it up and down the hatch it goes! I feel much better starting the day with lots of protein. ProComplex is a good deal as far as fats, calories, carbs and proteins go but I can sure understand not liking it. Believe me, it took awhile. For me, it's just fast and easy. But there are a lot of different protein drinks and sources and don't forget as you're farther down the post-op road the more choices you'll have. PB REALLY encourages this brand but you'll find others pretty easily - just be sure and read the labels. Lots of people can never hack the supplements and they do just fine getting protein from food so don't stress over this. For me, it's just really convenient so I feel very lucky I can tolerate it. I'm also a big Detour Bar fan. Vitalady.com has saved me a chunk of change if this is the route you choose and they have samples so you won't have to waste so much money. Also bear in mind that your tastes will probably change a lot after surgery - and probably several times. Best of luck in your upcoming surgery!

Give UNJURY a try! It is my favorite protein source- it comes in chocolate, vanilla and unflavored. The mixability is awesome- and it is very tolerable- you can mix it in water or milk- I even add the chocolate to my decaf coffee in the mornings and look forward to drinking it! Hope this helps! Good luck.

I can't do Pro Complex either. Tastes bitter to my tongue. There are hundreds of products that meet the label requirements and taste better, certainly to my tongue. If you e-me privately, maybe I can cross you over to something tastier.

Try putting some decaf instant coffee in it when mixing it and try doing it the night before so it's really cold in the morning when you go to drink it. The decaf coffee helps to cut the after taste. I'm two years post op and still drink procomplex on a daily basis. When I don't drink it, I feel sluggish all day.
