Question:
Picked up a rash at hospital. Primary put me on Keflex.

2 weeks post-op and I can't take the Keflex without stomach upset. Any suggestions on what antibiotic I can take that will absorb and not make me sick? Thanks for any help!    — Mary E. (posted on September 25, 2003)

I was just diagnosised with a Urinary Tract infection and am 3 wks post-op. I was given cipro 500mg 2x a day. Doesn't make me sick, I usually eat something, wait 30mins until I can have water and then take it.

500mg? I recently had foot surgery & doc gave me Keflex 500. I said, "Hm, I don't think so, gimme 250's & I'll take them 4X". No, he says, too complicated. "Well, not for me, I take pills 4X a day anyway <shrug>" Fried my pouch for sure. Normally this is a safe one for ultra-sensitive me (couldn't take much esle pre-op, either), but now I know ONLY in the 250's. You do not know pain unless you try erythromycin or tetracycline! Whoa!
