Question:
How do you supplement your iron intake
without getting sick to your stomach and puking or getting the constipation? Every time I take it I puke and if I can get it to stay down then I get really bad constipation! — Beverly S. (posted on September 4, 2003)

What kind of Iron are you taking? Ferrous sulfate is hard on our systems
and doesn't absorb well. I take 2 "Perfect Iron" from
Vitalady.com with 500 mg of vitamin C (all are chewable) and have no side
effects. I had previously been put on ferrous sulfate by my surgeon (of
all people) and it made me sick as a dog.

Ferrous sulfate
That's what the Dr ordered. I couldn't take it when I was pregnant either.

Chromagen is a prescription gel capsule that does not have the constipation
side effect and is helpful with those having absorbtion issues. Vitamin C
at the same time is very helpful. Additionally, on the Ferrous Sulfate, I
have not had issues with stomach on it....but I did find that absorbtion
works better after crushing it.
