Question:
Does anyone else have a problem taking either the
actigall or the iron? Both are making me puke, every single time I take them, no matter what I do! I am to the point that I won't take the actigall and am willing to take my chances with the gallstones(I feel that they can take the gallbladder right now)and I am waiting for my PCP to get back to me on the iron shot(I had to have those when I was pregnant cause the iron made me puke). I call the surgeons office and they say keep trying, well frankly I'm tired of puking, it isn't pleasant. Anyone else have this problem? — Beverly S. (posted on August 20, 2003)

Never had to take Actigall (not every physician requires that one), but
have had problems with iron. I seem to do better if I split mine but its a
weird feeling like nausea as it dissolves. Go to a vitamin shoppe and see
what alternatives you have (you may find a liquid or a brand that doesn't
upset your stomach). Try Vitamin Shoppe, GNC, or Vitamin World where you
can return if it doesn't work for you. Have you tried taking with food? I
buy mine at Wal-Mart ("something" Valley in a white/green box).
Or if all else fails -- take shot.

I haven't been able to take the Actigal either. My surgeon told me to hold
off on taking them. I have tried them on a couple of occassions since then
and they still make me sick. So, like you, I will take my chance with the
gallstones. What kind of iron are you taking? I had stomach problems when I
took Ferrous Sulfate as a pre-op. Since switching to Carbonyl iron I
haven't had any problems with nausea from the iron.

I have tried taking it with food, no matter what I do, it doesn't work. I
am going to get the iron shor when I have my next B12 until they figure out
whaT I can do.
