Question:
Felt great up until 3 weeks post-op. Reached for something and since then, my
abdomen feels worse than after surgery. I now feel as if my insides are falling out. I was told I probably pulled an abdominal muscle. Also, my incision is starting to sink in a bit and the sides of my incision are still swollen. Anybody else experience anything like this? I did call the dr. They're the ones who told me I probably pulled a muscle. — Donna106 (posted on July 16, 2003)

Hello. This same thing happen to me during my second week post-op. I bent
over to pick up a sock and pulled a muscle. And I was doing great
pain-wise before this. It was so bad, I couldn't hardly get in and out of
the car for about a month afterward (you don't realize how much you use
those muscles until they are hurting!). But it will feel better
eventually. I am now 13 months post-op (VBG, down 105 pounds) and I don't
believe I suffered any ill-effects from the pulled muscle, other than a lot
of pain while it was healing. Best of luck on your journey to a new you!

The same thing happened to me after surgery, except that I was exerting
myself in ummmmm a different kind of way. Anyway, the surgeon told me the
same thing. He said it was probably a pulled muscle, even after examining
me. It was not until I had lost down almost to goal that it was discovered
that I had an incisional hernia. I had the same kind of indention that you
mentioned in your post. After I had my tummy tuck/hernia repair, the
surgeon said that I had about 4 hernias, the largest being the size of the
top of a coke can. Please just be certain to keep a watch on it. I never
had any pain after about the second week after the "pulled
muscle" incident. Still, hernias are nothing to play with, and if you
do indeed have one, it will need to be addressed at some point, even if you
have no pain. You can read my profile for more details. Best of luck to
you!
