Question:
Has anyone tired the Isopure Low Carb Chocolate and the Chocolate RealMeals?
I'd like to know more about the difference between tastes (i.e., richer texture, easier to digest). I know everyone has different tastes but don't want to waste my money on something that doesn't taste good (especially when I drink it every day). I've tried the Nectar Carribean Cooler and it's too sweet for me. Thanks in advance. — Deanna C. (posted on July 15, 2003)

I would order samples if you can of all of the ones that you would like to
try. I have been a Real Meals drinker from about one week out and initially
could not do the chocolate but found that I could not tolerate anything
chocolate for about 2 months. I have had many other shakes for many years
prior to surgery and I really like the Real Meals a lot. I am with you on
the nectar, it was way too sweet for me. I also don't like Crystal Light or
anything like that so it was no big surprise. I am just so pleased with the
nutritional benefits of my shakes and the fact that I know that I am
getting my protein everyday! Good luck!

I tried samples of both the vanilla and chocolate Real Meals. For me, the
texture was awful. Others love them. I just couldn't get past it.
Anyway, the ones I was happy with were Body Fortress Whey Protein
(chocolate) or Atkins Advantage canned shakes, Chocolate Royale. The Body
Fortress powder is sold at Vitamin World. The guy who works there
suggested taking 2 scoops of powder and mixing it with 10 oz skim milk. It
worked well for me, giving 34 grams of protein in 10 ozs.. The texture is
good, but it kinda smells weird til it's mixed. I used a Tupperware
shaker. Atkins make another chocolate that is ok but not great, and the
cafe Au Lait is gross. I don't love that sweet fruit flavored stuff
either. Like drinking liquid lifesavers!! Good luck!

I have tried the Isopure, mixed with a wand blender, it is very smooth, I
prefer the vanilla, and I mix it in flavored drink, like sf koolaid, sf
tang, and now diet V-8 berry, I get sick of the same flavor, so I just
change the drink, and I don't have to buy different flavored protein.

Most protein drinks use Nutrasweet. I have a problem with nutrasweet.
Well Vitalady.com has a new protein drink I just started which is made with
Splenda. For now there are two flavors a Chocolate coffe(can't remember
the name) and the one I am drinking, Banana Scream, pure whey stack. mmm
good.

I have been using Real Meals since I was about 3 weeks post op. There are a
bunch of recipes on their website to give you some variety. Go to

If the Nectar is too sweet you may find Real Meals to be waaaaay too sweet
as well. I use Real Meals but it's definitely well on the sweet side of the
spectrum. If you like fruit flavors, you might try the Isopure Zero Carb
from GNC--I hate it, but a lot of folks find it to be very refreshing. Be
sure to drink it very cold---otherwise it smells dreadful. And try
vitalady.com for samples--that's your best bet! Cheers-
