Question:
Which of the following doctors: Dr.H Elariny, Dr. O Anez., Dr.W Roll, Dr. M Kalan
I have reaserching WLS for quite a while now and have narrowed my choices of surgeons to the following: Dr.Hazem Elariny, Dr. Osvaldo Anez, Dr. William Roll, Dr. Mohammed Kalan (in no particular order). Unfortunatly, there isn't a page in this site dedicated to people with bad experiences, ie, to warn others DON'T CHOSE THIS DOCTOR, HE TOTALLY MESSED ME UP. So if anyone knows anything about the four doctors mentioned, i'd REALLY appreciate ur help....something to push my choice in one direction or the other. Even if its positive information. I had surgery on 2/12/03 with Dr. Anez. I had no complications, I am down
from 303 to 238(home scale) in less than 3 months, and I think his office
staff and nutritionists are the best. They get you approved really fast
and they are very polite. Actually, the head nurse there has also had the
surgery and she looks great! call 703-860-8101 if you are interested in
attending a support group - you can talk to a bunch of patients at once and
formulate your own opinion based on their experiences. I am not sure of
the exact dates, but the meetings are held at either Fair Oaks or
Woodbridge. Hope this helps!

I had surgery with Dr. Anez on April 16th, and am doing great. I had a few
extra days in the hospital due to a problem with my bowel shutting down,
but this had nothing to do with the doctor's skills. My scar is very, very
small and quite healed up. I'm ready to head back to work on Monday.

Hi. If you are wanting lap wls Dr. Anez is out. When I went to my
consultation last week he said he does not do lap, even though his profile
says that he does and the woman I talked to when I made the appointment
said he did. On another note, Dr. Elariny has been the most informative of
the three doctors that I have talked to. He also has the best credentials
of the three. I personally have decided to go with Dr. Elariny. Visit my
profile if you would like more info. Good luck.

HI - Go to the "Find a Doc" section to read several profiles
written by patients. I had Open RNY 3/20/03 by Dr Roll. He was fantastic
and I can't say enough about his office support staff! Dr Roll has done
surgery on 2 of my sisters... one has lost over 200LBS and the other lost
126 LBS... everyone is doing great and they are healthy. I highly
recommend Dr Roll and have complete confidence in his abilities. Best of
luck! -35LBS

I had open rny on 3/19/03 with Dr. Anez. I had no complications, stayed in
the hospital for tw days and recovery has been wonderful. The man's
surgical abilities are wonderful, his office staff is great and the
nutritionist that works with him make sure that you are equipped with the
information that you need. If you have additional questions, don't hesitate
to email me. [email protected]

Anez and Roll's patients attend a support group called the Staple Club-the
other 2 doctors may be part of it, too, I'm not sure. Go to
www.stapleclub.com to get the meeting schedule. Hundreds of people, both
post-op and pre-op attend and you can ask at the support group meeting
their opinions. I have heard that Anez does not do lap and Elariny does,
but other than that, I have not heard bad about any of those doctors. I am
in Northern Va and had a different surgeon who does the lap RNY and a few
other procedures and I highly recommend him. E-mail me if your interested.

I traveled from Florida to Virginia in order to have my surgery with Dr.
Elariny, and I think he's the BEST. He's performed hundreds and hundreds
of WLS procedures and has never had a fatality (despite taking on some
ultra-high-risk cases). I have an M.D. friend in DC who checked him out for
me and reported that his reputation among other doctors is top-notch.
Everyone who has worked with him seems to be in complete awe of his lap
surgical skills. He's also just a super nice person -- truly caring and
committed to his patients. I don't know anything about the other doctors
you mentioned, but I do believe that you can't go wrong with Dr. E. Good
luck with your decision, and best wishes on your surgery!!

I had my surgery with Dr. Anez on January 15, and was very happy. It was an
amazingly positive experience. I had little pain and recovered
easily.
I chose Dr. Anez partly based on a recommendation by my orthopedist, who
had many positive things to say. I've heard nothing bad about him. He told
me that he had only one patient with a leak; I forgot to ask his personal
mortality rates.
As said below, Dr. Anez doesn't do a lap. However, my scar is only about
3-1/2". long, My bypass was 80" cm (very proximal), but I was a
lightweight; I don't know if he does longer ones.
I like Dr. Anez' staff very much.
I had my surgery on 3/20/01 with Dr. Elariny. I have to say he is an
amazing surgeon! I am thrilled with my results I lost all of my excess
body weight and went from a size 22 to a size 4. If you have any questions
let me know I'll be happy to answer them!
