Question:
Who is a good PCP that is supportive of WLS?
I have a freind that has a BMI of 52 but has not other co-morbids. Has anyone in CA been approved from Kaiser with only having a BMI onver 50? She does not have a computer so I am trying to find stuff out for her. Thanks ahead of time. Daniyal Ahmed Dr. Leo Murphy Pre-Op - Open RNY 5' 6" - 275 - BMI 44 — Daniyal A. (posted on May 1, 2003)

I got approval from Kasier in LA (Hollywood), with a BMI of 45 and very
minimal co-morbs (sleep apnea, thyroid, depression). My PCP was very
supportive of my decision, although we have a history of about 4-5 years.
He's know about my struggles of weight from day one. As this surgery gets
more publicity, more and more doctors are see ing the benefits. Good luck
to your friend, email me if you want his name or it might be on my
profile...aims

I am in process, and have been approved by Kaiser for surgery (as long as I
lose 10% of my weight during the 6 month class I have to attend) I have no
comorbids, and my BMI is over 50. Hope that helps. I beleive the
criteria, at least for Southern CA - reads that you do not have to have
comorbids if your BMI is over 50.
