Question:
My insuracne just advised me that I need to take a BMI test. What the heck is it?

What do they do for this test? I've got everything else that I need done, so now they hit me with this. What is it?    — Beverly S. (posted on April 1, 2003)

Body Mass Index. Most insurances requirte a BMI at least 40 or higher. UNLESS there is comorbities some can be in the 30's.

I already know my BMI, it's 45. But it was just the way that she said it, like it was some major test that had to be performed in the hospital. THanks.

I thought that sounded a little strange because your BMI isn't a test and that info should already be in your doctor and surgeons file already.Is there a chance that they meant the MMPI2 test?

When I went for my consultation, I already knew my BMI, and they calculated also but then she used a special small gage that measured my elbow,in a bent position. no big deal
