Question:
Who does the foot work?
I live in Michigan. I have medicare and Standard life insurance. I have several problems such as severe arthritis, spinal problems, high blood pressure,(controlled),incontinence, replaced knees, reflux, and blood clots. My question is ,who does the foot work. Do I have to ask Medicare( my other insurance will cover 100% if Medicare pays)or do I send the information I have from my doctors and they handle it. I have one from my ppc that states all my problems for the last 15 years. I can get more but will that do the trick? — Carol H. (posted on January 26, 2003)

I'm such an airhead! I thought you were asking about foot
surgery...anyway!! Medicare is primary, so you would want to check with
them...(I'm assuming you mean who will pay for wls??)...if they cover and
what is their "red tape" or what do they need to get approved.
Get everything in writing and record the day and time you spoke with
anyone. Just for the future. I hope this helps, if I understood.

Actually, your surgeon should let you know what he/she needs to submit to
your insurance. You may have to call other doctors such as your PCP to
have them send the info to the surgeon, but then his/her office will submit
for pre-approval or pre-certification or whatever your insurance does.
