Question:
CalPERS Blue Shield Access+ HMO Insurance Approvals/Problems?

On 9-1-02 all California State Employees are being forced into choosing either BS Access+ HMO or Kaiser. I am being forced into switching from HealthNet who has already approved my surgery. Now my surgeon is not able to get me in for the surgery until after December 31, 2002. The new insurance takes effect 1-1-03. Who should I choose? Which is more likely to approved my surgery? Kaiser is notoriously very slow. I have never had good luck with Kaiser so I am leaning toward Blue Shield. Suggestions?    — Cindy J. (posted on August 6, 2002)

Cindy, I have Blue Scheild of Ca, and only had it for a few weeks before the letter was sent. I was approved in a month!!!! I know your worried. Good luck!
