Question:
for those of you that keep a food diary..

what calculations fo you use for 'My Goals'? I think that I'm way off but losing weight rapidly with tons of exercise and water! I set it for 1200 calories, 40% protein, 30% carbs and fats. Is this too much for 14 weeks out?    — jenn2002 (posted on July 31, 2002)

i'm not sure if it's too much or not, i haven't been counting my calories, i am about 9 weeks post-op. My surgeon said not to count calories or fat right now b/c i cannot eat that much to worry about it. I do now that my nutritionist said that my goals should be 70% protein, 20% veggies and 10% carbs/fats. It is a bit unrealistic to me, and i know its not followed with the way i eat. But i really don't know how many calories we should be eating. I am no expert and am constantly asking for help myself, so wait for more experienced post-ops to help you! goodluck, and great question to ask! :) congrats on good weight loss!!

I am 6.5 months out and I eat around 800 cals a day, that has been my goal since about 2 months out. If I have something bad like a burger or something every now and then I can hit 1000 but I think at 1200 you would be eating all day!! LOL..I have read the 800 mark a whole lot on this site so thats why I picked that for the daily goal, alot of times I only make about 600-700...down 108 lbs....

I stayed around 800 calories until 7 months when my appetite increased. I don't think I could have eaten 1200 calories! I did spot check but mainly just monitored my protein grams and tried to eat less carbs. Let the rest fall where they may! (Hopefully not on my hips! LOL)

I should have mentioned that I never hit the 1200 mark, that was the number listed on my paperwork (dietician) for my type of surgery and my length of time post-op. The grams of protein etc is not listed but we are to stay within this parameter--never let your carbs be more than double your protein and your fats should be half the amount of protein. I just can't seem to figure that our mathematically!!!!!
