Question:
I think I really am becoming bulimic, I eat foods that I shouldn't at 5 weeks out,
knowing that I will throw them up. Not much stays down anyways except cream of wheat, but I get tired of that. I have been seeing my shrink, but I am worried what the effect of all the vomiting will have on my pouch. Anyone with ideas? This is so much harder than I thought it would be, even with all my research and preparation. I want to lose the weight more than anything, but am having a problem with losing my best friend - food. I'm 4 weeks post-op and have never thrown up. Are you making yourself
throw up? Or, are you throwing up because your new tummy can't handle the
foods you are eating. Or, are you throwing up because you are eating way
too much? At 4 weeks post-op, I'm still on pureed foods and don't move to
soft foods for a few more weeks. Your new tummy needs time to heal, that
is the reason for this special liquid, pureed, and soft food diet. I wish
you would speak to your surgeon before you end up causing real damage to
your new tummy and esophagus. Good luck.

It sounds to me like you may be just eating the wrong things, or too much
in an effort to sabotage yourself. You need support, support, and MORE
support from your therapist, this site, your friends and family and anyone
else out there you feel comfortable with. Do something to change your
behavior patterns. If you feel like you want to eat too much, or eat
something you aren't supposed to, get up and leave!! Don't bring any form
of money with you so you can't buy anything, just get out of the house and
drive, or visit a friend until the urge leaves you. Other people report
great success using a feelings journal to try to find what is causing you
to do this. I wish you the best! You can turn this around!!! E-mail me
anytime: [email protected]

I am 6 months post-op and I had this problem for the first 4 or 5 months.
At a certain point I accepted the fact that I couldnt eat certain foods and
I got used to not being able to eat as much. I had to consciously be
careful to not do things that would make me throw up. I have nipped it in
the bud now. Feel free to email me if you want to talk more
([email protected]). Good luck!
