Question:
I AM SO FRUSTRATED.................................
i am 10 weeks post opt and i can't eat any meat or eggs. nothing, turkey, ham, steak, hot dogs, (fat free), fish nothing. when i first came home from hosp. i tolerated it fine for about a week, then i got my stricture and stooped eating for sooooo long. but when i got dilated and resumed eating solids, i was able to stomach meats...... it is soooo frustrating cause i love meat and my mom bought me a truck load of it.............. also, i can't tolerate lettuce, most veggies or even bread sometimes.......has this happened to anyone. if so can you share the outcome. love to you all! — Tica G. I had problems with meats for a long time. I am almost 6 months out now and
it has only been a few weeks where I can tolerate meats and veggies. I
still can't do breads. When I researched this I found that the
"magic" month where everyone seems to be able to eat everything
is about 9 months out. I learned not to torture myself by forcing the foods
that bothered me. I just did soups and cheeses and tried to introduce the
meats and veggies once per week until it was comfortable. It gets better!

For the first 12 weeks after surgery, I literally couldn't keep ANYTHING
down except cottage cheese and string cheese. I lose 100+ lbs. in 12
weeks, which was VERY scary. Then around week 12 on the nose, I could
suddenly eat again. It was wonderful! I couldn't eat much, but I could
tolerate SO much more. Hang in there. It DOES get better and is SO worth
it.

I couldnt tolerate anything either. You just have to give it time. You will
soon be able to. You might try soy or veggie like "meat".

hi tica. i have been keeping up with u thru ur posts & i think u r
doing great. i am 4 mos post op open rny proximal. i cannot eat beef or
turkey unless its in a chili type form & even then i cant eat too much
of it. i do great with 'white' fish but cant tolerate tuna. chicken is good
to me too, but, not in great quantities or too frequently. i also can
tolerate pork well. bread, even when toasted is an absolute no no to my
pouch but i can tolerate a small flour tortilla or 1/2 of wheat pita bread,
but, again, not too frequently. most of my meals r made of eggs, cheese
& broiled fish. when i do have pork or chicken i make sure it is
extremely soft & moist. i accomplish this by slow cooking in a crock
pot. u also might find that having a sauce or gravy with ur food helps u
tolerate it better. good luck & keep up the good work.
