I don't know about with your insurance, but I met a lady in the doctor's
office who was a little younger than you and had only needed to lose about
50-60 pounds. Her insurance and the doctor approved her for that based on
her comorbids (I don't remember what they were) and her age. She REALLY
NEEDED to lose that 50 lbs. When she lost it, it alleviated the conditions
that were threatening her health and she was happy to have just lost that
"little bit." Hope this helps!

only a bariatric surgeon can tell you if you qualify for this surgery based
on your medical history and your present health. you have nothing to loose
in asking!

Hi! I agree with Cheri. It most likely will depend on your co-morbs. I
am 57 with over 200 lbs. to lose. The two nearest medical centers would
not even see me because I was over 55. That was the best thing that ever
happened. I found a wonderful surgeon who cares about his patients, not
dollars or statistics. In 3 1/2 months I've lost 76 lbs. and feel
fantastic. My best advice is don't give up. It will happen if you are your
own self-advocate. Good luck!

There is a Yahoo group started from here called "theoldiesofwls".
it is for the over 50's we share 'old folks' wls problems and triumps.

Age should not be an issue. Are those of us over the age limits not worth
anything? My health is OK. Why should a couple of years make that much
difference?
