Question:
Has anyone had hernia repair with mesh and abdominoplasty simultaneously?

I haven't had this yet but I am trying to get insurance approval right now for these exact procedures.

I am 6 weeks post-op from a hernia repair w/mesh....my surgeon would not do an abdominoplasty or an panni at the same time. He said that he did not want to risk infection - causing a problem with the mesh. I do know that some members here have had both. Good Luck, Karan

I am still pre-op, but my surgeon tells me it is very common to have hernia repair/abdominoplasty at the same time. he said some patients wish for a hernia because that is covered by insurance and they can get the abdominoplasty covered then too

Yes...i had my open RNY, panni, and two hernia repairs all at the same time. I myself had no problems and was able to move much better after surgery with my huge tummy much smaller from the panni

I had a hernia repair and abdomnioplasty on 8/14/01. It was a very easy surgery. It was the second best thing I ever did for me. I hope this helps. Your Weight Loss Pal.

Yes I had it done at the same time I had my RNY. The doctor was amazed I had a double hernia. One the size of a grapefruit one the size of a golf ball. I did NOT have any complications. I actually felt good after surgery. In fact I was realeased from the hospital after 2 days since I was doing so well. 7 weeks and feeling great. Good Luck and Do not worry.
