Question:
I have very heavy legs. My doc says it's hard to lose the weight there.
Has anyone successfully taken weight off of the legs. My legs have always been a problem for me finding pants to fit. Jeans dont fit because the legs are too small. Wide leg jeans don't look good. — Connie Z. (posted on February 1, 2002)

Hi! I'm a pear-shaped woman. Down to 145 lbs. as a result of gastric bypass
surgery from 314. I carry my weight in my thighs and legs and always will.
As I lost weight, I literally melted from the top to the bottom. I'm still
losing, but mostly inches, and since there's not much fat left on me above
my waist, the weight has no choice but to come off from my hips and thighs.
You'll have to wait a bit to get to this point, but if you continue to lose
via exercise and proper eating, the fat on the hips and thighs WILL come
off. (smile)

I too have 'heavy legs', particularly my calves because I have had
lymphedema and in my right leg, cellulitis, which stretched the skin. I
shop at Making It Big (they have a website and will send a catalog). They
specialize in natural fabric clothing for large and supersized women (I
found great clothes there when I was 500+ pounds). My favorites are the
Riviera pants, Down to Earth pants and Free and Easy pants. They are a
little pricy, but they wear forever and are so darn comfortable. I now
shop in the smaller size (having gone from an 8X to a 1) and I dread the
day the 1's are too big. That's how much I love them. For my exercise, I
ride a bike, which has really helped bring the fat off my thighs.
Eventually though, I am going to have the hanging skin removed. Good Luck!

I am 3 years out and I carried all my weight in the hips, butt and
thighs...I am now in a size 4, and have NO butt, hips or thighs. My only
complaint about that is that I didn't lose in my calves like I would have
wanted to. Calves are almost the same as my thighs and I think that is
cause they had to support all that weight for years. I'm a size 4 and yet
still can't zip up a pair of knee high boots. My calves are too
big...weird huh? Just my 2 cents

I have had heavy legs all my life. (I'm 40 now.) When I went on NutriSystem
the last time, I lost 70 lbs. I lost a lot of it in my legs!!! For the 1st
time in my life, my legs were my favorite part!! (I had wished it came off
more in my stomach!) I did do Richard Simmon's Dance Your Pants Off
4x/week. I know that it probably helped. Anyway, I am pre-op, and hope I
lose it everywhere! Good Luck!!
