Question:
Is it ok to have fiber in our diets?

I'm an RNY'er and I can tolerate fiber in cereal very well. My question is is that good or bad for our bowel movements??? Sorry for the yucky question ... Thanks    — Monica J. (posted on November 19, 2001)

Fiber is, as Martha Stewart would say, "a good thing." If you can tolerate it without too much gas or pain, then by all means, eat up! Fiber is good for people with hard stools, and interestingly enough, also good for people with loose stools. Go figure!
