I showered day two after surgery with the staples in - no problem. I kept
a bottle of hydrogen peroxide in the shower for awhile and poured it over
the incision and staples after my daily shower.

I didn't have Dr. Hutcher. My doctor in Dallas had me in the shower before
I left the hospital tho, she told me to let the warm water run over my
incision, then after I towel dried I poured oxygen peroxide over it
followed by neosporin ointment and a bandage of gauze. I didn't have
'staples', I had tapes. I don't know if this will help you or not, but
thought I'd let you know. I know the more I showered, the quicker I
healed.

I had Dr. Anes in Fairfax, Va. I also took a shower while I was still in
the hospital. It was fine. The only thing I could not do was run a direct
stream of water on my staples. Then it was pat dry, cover with soft
(cottom like) gauze and put my binder on. I was told not to put anything
on it until the staples came out 10 days later. I would still put the
gauze on it just so the binder didn't rub it. I never had any trouble with
my incision and it looks great. Nice, clean and smooth and I'm only at 11
weeks post-op. The pinkness is also fading away fairly quickly too.

I'm also in Richmond, but I switched to Dr. DeMaria at MCV for my lapRNY
surgery. He allowed showering on the 2nd morning after surg. After each
shower, hydrogen peroxide was put on the staples. I have had absolutely no
problems, and I've lost over 70# in 12 weeks. Hope you have a great
experience as well! Best wishes, DebbieC
