Question:
Need feedback on Dr. Sifers in K C, Ks.
I was to have surgery in March of this year and backed out from fear. I now realize that I need to go ahead with it. Any feedback on your results with Dr. Sifers in the Kansas City area. Thanks, — Gary H. (posted on October 21, 2001)

Be sure you know what you're getting. At one point awhile back, this doc
was saying that he offered the DS, but patients got to the consult and
learned that he didn't to the DS after all but only the BPD. Perhaps that
is changed by now, but you should make sure you know for sure. Good luck!

Dr. Sifers performed the BPD on me about two years ago. He seemed very
confident and well qualified.Surgery was surprisingly easy with very little
pain. His technique was GREAT,but his follow up care was not what it should
have been. I felt like I had "drive thru" surgery and follow ups
were really brief. They seemed too busy spend much time with post op
patients unless you had a complication. Then it would be handled as a
priority.I lost about 120 pounds easily,but I still weigh 240.I have gained
about 10 pounds back.Don't expect to get thin! Still,I have no
regrets.Dr.Sifers is a very skilled surgeon and a pretty nice guy. I have
wondered though, why the hospital banned him from performing BPD surgery? Not
sure if the ban is still in effect, but I know he does several types of WLS.
Good Luck! Deb
