I hear Nioxin is very good for this cause. Try it and let me know what you
think. Good luck!!

I have this very same problem. Next month will be my one year anniversary,
and the hair only recently stopped falling out. I tried everything
recommended at this site: shampoos, vitamins, foods, etc. Nothing worked.
My dermatologist told me that your hair will fall out up to 50% after
surgery, and there's nothing that can be done to prevent it. This certainly
was true with me. I started with very thick hair and lost lots. My only
suggestion is to be gentle with the hair, use lots of conditioner, comb
gently, and get regular haircuts. I got mine cut a little shorter to try
and get some bounce back in. It helped. Also, my hair continued to fall out
past the 6-8 months for most people. Unfortunately, this situation just
seems to be one that some of us have to work our way through. Good luck.

Thyroid hormone abnormalities and certain surgical procedures, which place
a lot of stress on the body, can also cause hair loss. A high fever that
lasts several days, severe infection, rapid weight loss, protein- and
iron-deficient diets and some medications (such as anticoagulants,
isotretinoin, etretinate, lithium and birth control pills) can cause hair
to fall out, too.
Generally, hair loss associated with telogen effluvium stops two to three
months after its cause is pinpointed. If a specific medication caused the
condition, your doctor may be able to recommend a substitute drug.. I
talked to my surgeon about my hair loss and was recommend Z-Bec and
Biotin (Both are at Walmart) that combination slowed my hairloss and at 10
months post-op started getting new growth... After the WLS surgery and
two abdominoplasty surgeries I'm still not loosing any more hair :) DON'T
FORGET THE PROTEIN no less than 60 grams a day... :)

My surgeon says that the most recent research has shown that there is
little to prevent the hair loss. The hair loss is due to the rapid weight
loss and the shock the body is going through. While it is good to make
sure that you are getting adequate protein, this has little if no effect on
the hair loss. But, everyone is different as to how much they lose. You
will not necessarily lose a lot. I don't know of anyone who has lost all
their hair! The good news is that by about one year after surgery almost
everyone's has grown back.

I am no expert but I do know that when I was doing the Low Carb/High
Protein diet I lost a lot of weight....and a lot of hair. Even though my
protein was elevated to above our daily requirements I was still loosing
quite a bit of hair. It did grow back (and the pounds came back
too...sigh)

hair loss is common due to rapid wgt. loss and shock to the body. I'm
almost 5 mo. post op and experiencing this now. Make sure you are getting
your protein, and taking your vitamins..they also had me add a zinc and b
complex daily.
Also I switched to Baby Shampoo, less harsh on the hair. Don't panic,
inspite of hair loss....nobody has gone bald!
