Question:
I am 5 weeks post op and my pouch/stomach hurts. I don't mean like I am going to

be sick, I mean it actually aches almost all of the time, but especially when I eat or drink. Is this normal? Is it that my stomach is still healing or should I worry? It also hurts alot when I am trying to sleep at night (I toss and turn alot anymore.)Please help!    — [Anonymous] (posted on August 24, 2001)

Do you still have your gallbladder? If so, you may want to discuss it with a doctor and have him check it out.

This may be stomach cramping. I had some for the first two weeks then it went away. Talk to your surgeons office. I believe there are meds to ease the cramping. HTH's.

I had a constant stomach ache for 2 weeks after surgery. It was hard to fall asleep with it also. My doctor had me take Pepcid AC chewable tablets 2 times a day. I'd wake up with the ache and take a tablet and within minutes it was relieved. I did this for about 3 weeks and then I never had the pain again after about 5 and a half weeks. If I ever have it again I knoiw the Pepcid AC will take care of it.
