Question:
How much weight loss should I expect in the bust?

I am NOT well endowed and have trouble finding bras to fit. How much loss should I expect in that area after surgery?    — Dottie W. (posted on August 24, 2001)

Dottie - I lost thru the shoulders and back but retained my cup size. I went from I think a 44DD to a 36DD.

It's impossible to predict exactly how much weight you will lose and from which area.

Hi! I am only 8 weeks post-op and I am already losing in the bust area. My family has a history of losing all their breasts when they lose a dramatic amount of weight--so reconstructive surgery is ahead for me. I consider it reconstructive rather than cosmetic. After all, I'll be 34 in Oct. and based on my mom and my sister, and on the way I'm losing now (I started out as a 46DD, I'm still wearing those, but I see a D cup in my future REAL soon), all I'll have left--WARNING: For those who blush easily, stop reading now! :-)-- is a couple of bags of skin with nipples on the end! :-( But basically, I agree with Barb, it depends on genetics and your body...since you are already somewhat small in that area, you probably won't have much to worry about. ((((HUGS))))

Everyone is different. I saw my Dr. yesterday for my 1 year post-op check and had gone from a 52" bust to a 40! There's not much left for me either. I see a breast lift and maybe inplants in the near future!!!

Please don't be tempted to hang your femininity on your bust size! When I was married at age 23 I was 5'7" and weighed 128 (I graduated high school at 118!). I was a member of the IBTC (Itty Bitty Titty Committee). This is not a bad thing! I would rather be flat chested and no butt than what I was preop WLS! Don't worry -- be happy!

I hope it is ok to comment on the question. But as a guy, I find small busted and flat chested women VERY SEXY! I lie not! I just wanted you to know that not all guys are looking for well endowed women. Breasts don't make women more of a woman anymore than a bigger crotch makes a man more of a man. I don't mean to make light of any of you ladies who lose in the bust area. I'm greatful that medicine has the ability to help women if they feel they need more size. But I think our society places to much presure on women to ether be slim, or big busted or whatever. In any case, I wish you well with whatever you decide to do. I just wanted you to know that not all of us drool over the "Dolly Partons" of this world. A few years ago in ether Ann Landers or Dear Abby, some guy wrote a poem about loving small busted ladies the best as "he could hold them closer to his heart". That says it all. :)

Hi I am only 2 weeks and 1 day post op, but I have lost 4 1/2 inches in my chest/bust area. However, its mostly the fat off my back that is gone. My cup size is still the same!!
