Question:
Would a surgeon cancel due to an ingrown toenail?
Would my surgeon cancel my surgery (scheduledfor Monday) because i have am igrown toenail? Should I tell him? — [Anonymous] (posted on July 29, 2001)

You should tell him. I know no one wants a problem and/or possible
cancelation. But it is your health at stake, should it be a problem. Please
do come clean on this one, just in case. Although if your surgery is
tomarrow is it probally already to late.

I have ingrown toenails on two toes, I had surgery on Monday, July 23,
2001. There is no point in mentioning it, I didnt. If you want to tell him
go ahead, I'm sure your surgeon will think, "so, what!" Don't
worry.

I hope your right Courtney and you probally are. ;) However I would worry
about a possible infection in the toe... and then perhaps that would pose a
problem. But whatever. Good luck on your surgery tomarrow! Your in for a
jouney! Just remember the first eight or so weeks (at least with the Open)
are a nightmare, but "you will wake up" when you can
"finally" eat normal foods. :)

I don't know how serious your ingrown toe may be. If it is
really bad maybe they would remove it for you while you are
in surgery. It would be better than if you were awake and
they had to remove it. It wasn't to bad for me when they
removed mine a few years ago. If it isn't infected it shouldn't
be any problem. If it is infected they will probably remove it.
They give you antibiotics in the hospital even before the
surgery, I think that should take care of any problems that
may occur. Good luck.

Well, if he's in a grea deal of pain and can't stand up for
the duration of the operation, he'll probably reschedule.
