Question:
Revised ideal weights on the BMI page???
Has anyone else noticed that at least some of the ideal weights on the "calculate your BMI" page have changed? I know my ideal weight was listed as 169 and now it's listed as 156. That's really quite a difference. My Dr-given ideal weight number was 165, closer to their original weight. Anyone have an idea why the weights were changed? Maybe it wasn't all of them, just mine!!?! Oh, sure, I get close & you change the standard! :) I WAS within 5 pounds!!! WAH! :) — Kathy W. (posted on July 3, 2001)

Hi Kathy, I've also noticed that it's changed. My ideal weight according to
the original index was the same as it is now. I don't know what happened
but when the graph was included, I noticed that what was shown as my ideal
weight was higher than what I should really weigh according to other
sources that I checked. I would tend to believe what it shows now since
that weight more closely matches what I should weigh. I don't know why it
was changed and I know you're sad that now you have a few more than 5
pounds to lose, but look at where you're coming from, that is a great
achievement, congrats!!! I am pre-op and look forward to the day when I can
say I've lost 15 pounds. Keep doing what you've been doing, you'll reach
ideal soon. All the best.

Your right!!! So for me that is the difference between morbid obesity and
super morbid obesity. When my doctor said I was off the charts - he wasn't
lying. I thought he just had an old chart. This just did wonders for my
self esteem:(
