Question:
Documentation Preperation
I will see my surgeon on the 5th for initial consult. First, I want to thank everyone for giving me such good advice about speeding up the process, i feel more prepared. I have scheduled my psych eval for the same day and my dietician appt. for the next day. I have even talked to my ins. and told them to keep and eye out. (aetna) They have been friendly so far. Now, my mind is wandering. I am afraid that I will not have enough medically supervised diets. I was on phen-fen four years ago and have used lots of over the counter diet methods that I have told about in my diet history. I got my doc to give me Xenical last month. I didn't really use it though. Do you all have any advice on beefing up my diet history or any thoughts at all on the situation? All responses are appreciated!! — Courtney W. (posted on July 1, 2001)

HI Courtney... Regarding diet history and Aetna: Please check out my
profile for my letter from my PCP. No dates, successes or failures on the
diets were necessary. He simply stated that I attempted weight loss many
times through various diets, and listed them. It worked! They never asked
for any other documentation. Good Luck today! PS I read your profile and
it's sad what has happened to your relationship with your best friend.
Hopefully, you can be an inspiration to her, amd your lil sis!

I was really nervous, too, because I didn't have any doctor-supervised
diets at all, and the last formal program I tried was Jenny Craig nearly 10
years ago. However, I put down EVERYTHING I could think of in my diet
history, including over-the-counter stuff, in a chart with approximate
dates, and results (pounds lost). I also included a personal letter
detailing my life-long struggle with weight loss, and it seemed to work, I
was approved with Cigna PPO without a psych exam. If you'd like a copy of
my diet history, email me and I'd be happy to send it to you. Good luck!
