Question:
Does your age have anything to do with the rate loss?
At the support groups that I attend, I notice that people who are younger -- in their 20's and 30's seem to lose faster that the few of us who are in our early and late 50's. Has anyone else noticed this? — mary ann M. (posted on June 20, 2001)

When I did weight watchers for the millionth time that was a topic for
discussion and we were told that yes your metobolisim slows down and it is
harder to lose the older you are. We were told that once you hit 30 it
begins to slow down. I know that I was able to lose weight faster than my
mother who also was on weight watchers. So I think your observation is
correct that the younger you are the faster you seem to lose. Atleast it
has been true in my experience!

Yep, doc says women over 40 have more trouble loosing, because of

Could be. I had a hysterectomy a year before WLS (open RNY - Fobi style).
I am 15 months postop and 45 years old. I lost what I consider to be
slowly, but, the up side is that I don't need a tummy tuck. The first year
my losses monthly were: 21, 10, 9, 22, 5, 5, 6, 10, 5, 7, 4, 4. I hope
this info helps. Remember, the end result is what's important!

Back when I thought I was a slow loser and my doc was trying to convince me
otherwise, he said that the older patients were slower losers because
generally they didn't get the exercise the younger patients did.
