Question:
My tummy is so firm... will it ever be soft again?
From my belly button up to my boobs,(pretty much the whole incision line)it seems very hard and firm. More so than before my open RNY 5 months ago. I do have two hernias and a lot of scarring from previous surgerys. Mostly it seems very hard when I'm standing... not as bad when I'm reclining or laying down. I have lost 90 lbs. and have at least 100 more to go. My question is this: has anyone had this happen to and then finaly the tummy softened up? If so.. how long did it take? This really bugs me and if my belly would just go down more I could wear a size smaller. Seems like I'm losing everywhere but my tummy! Well, I have lost some there but not as much as everwhere else. The simple fact that it is so firm makes me feel as if I haven't lost nearly as much as I really have! From my belly button down it feels great. Nice and soft. Thanks for any advice and experiance you may have. — Deb H. (posted on June 12, 2001)

My friend has the same problem as you do. Her tummy is actually bigger now
than after ( she had the tummy tuck with the surgery) and it is very hard.
The dr told her it is scar tissue that has been built up inside and after
she loses a bit more will need surgery to get rid of it. Talk with your dr.
Maybe you have the same thing

I think I know what you mean! From my belly button to my boobs is also
hard and it sticks out really far. I feel like I'm pregnant! Mine is
mostly on my right side. I find myself holding it in with my hand when I
walk. I see my surgeon for my 8th month checkup on Friday and I'm going to
ask him about it.
