how do you know if you have a hernia?

It sounds like many people are able to get a tummy tuck covered by insurance during the course of a hernia repair. How do you know if you have a hernia? What are some of the symptoms? Thanks.    — Kathy W. (posted on June 8, 2001)

i have a surgical hernia from the time my gallbladder was removed 27 years ago. it never bothered me so i never had it fixed. i am so glad i never had it fixed!!! after i have my wls in the future & i lose the weight i need to lose, my insurance co will pay for a tummy tuck because the hernia needs to be repaired! how did i know i had one? when ever i use my abdominal muscles out comes this HUGE bulge.
