Question:
Is Making the Journey Together"...helpful?
Has anyone bought this book and found it helpful. If so can we purchase just one copy of it or do we have to buy it in bulk? I am trying to read and learn as much as possible so I can be as prepared as possible. Thanks! — wilkywanch (posted on May 1, 2001)

I got my book recently too and I looked it over pretty thoroughly. I think
it will be nice to have in the hospital and during the initial post op.
However, it seems to be directly culled from the database here so the
information is available if you put your question in this very QA section.
Also, we often get information on line that is more current and topical
than a published book can be. I was a little dissapointed that it was all
people who were short term post ops. There was nothing about long term
results or complications and not quite enough emphasis on nutritional
compliance. Having said that, it's a neat thing to have and would be great
to take to skeptical doctors or people who don't have on line access. Also
for in the hospital when I'm not at the computer, I think it will make me
feel close to my cyber support group. I think making a donation to the
sight and getting the book is great, I also got business cards and some
other neat stuff. I'm really glad to be a paying member since the website
has been so very helpful to me.

I just bought a book called "Weight Loss Surgery - Understanding
Morbid Obesity" by Michelle Boasten. It was great for pre-ops. You
can get it on Amazon.com.

I just got the "making the journey" book. It's very helpful. It
covers a lot of things similar to the Q and A postings and the library.
However, since it's in booklet form, I will be able to take it to the
hospital for support. Also, it was a nice freebie for making a donation,
which I would've done anyway. This website is a Godsend.
