Question:
Has any one heard of Glucerna ?

I hope this doesn't post twice; I sent this once but haven't seen it yet; if it is on twice please forgive me . I wondered if any of you had ever used the supplement " Glucerna ? It is a diabetic supplement. I can't find any info about the grams of protein , or the vitamins in it on their web site. Thanks, Connie It also goes by the name of " Ensure Glucerna Diabetic Supplement."    — kountry (posted on March 31, 2001)

Hi Connie, I love mysteries and so I did a little research about this. Do you have Yahoo? Well, I did a search and found the info you need. If you type in"glucerna" you will get a lot of matches. The best web page with your info is"Ross Medical Nutritional Products Glucerna Shake" If you click on this choice you will find the info you are seeking. The web address is WAY too long for me to try to type it here. I found that 8 oz have 10 grams of protein. As for the vitamins, there are too many for me to list. If you scroll down that page you will see them listed. Let us know if this product is worth the high cost and if you think it tastes good. Hope this helps.

Hi Connie, I used the choc. shake glucerna when I was newly post-op. It is too expensive to use all the time, but when I was only drinking an ounce or two it tasted good and was worth the extra money. After 2 months I am sure you can get enough protein from foods. I drink skim milk, eat yogurt, cheeses, and beans. I get way over 60 grams a day. The glucerna has about 10 grams per 8 ounce serving. Good Luck!

I tried Glucerna about six days post-op, and it caused a mild dumping episode. I asked my surgeon about it, since the sugars are so low, and it said it was just "too rich and heavy."
