Question:
WHICH ARE THE BEST AND COMFORTABLE?????
OK I am on a walking roll now. I am back to work as of Feb 26,2001, I have been walking on my breaks, and in the evenings when I come home. It feel so good other than my feet hurt so bad. I have fat wide feet. and I need someone to help me with what is the best/comfortable,low price walking shoes to buy and where. I am sorry but I am a wallmart shopper and a cheap one at that, (I never buy expensive shoes because I am EEE wide and I walk on the side of my feet somewhat. I wear out a pair of shoes in just a month so I dont spend a lot of money of them. So If you can guide me on what is the best shoes to get I would really enjoy it. I know my feet will feel better. Thank you all so much. I cant believe I am asking someone advise for a good pair of walking shoes. wwwoooowww what a change in me and a wonderful one too. Thanks, Jay Biller — jay B. Trust me, go invest in a good pair of shoes! It will be well worth it. I
used to do the same thing as you. I also used to work as a nurse and my
feet would just kill me...finally I broke down and bought a good pair of
Reebox. It made a world of difference! They make them in various stages
of wide width, the DMX versions are the best comfort for walking. Actually
they aren't too bad $50-$60 considering they last longer!

Hi Jay
Think of all the money you are saving on food......spend it on a good pair
of shoes. There are alot of things you can cut corners on but shoes
shouldn't be one of them. I am sitting here after foot surgery last
Wednesday and I wish I had been better to my feet. My doctor told me that
all that weight is really doing a number on my feet and I should have been
wearing good shoes. Just think of good walking shoes as an investment in
your good health. Hope that helps.

I agree with them. I also have bad feet. I really think you
need to take care of them and if it means spending alittle more
money, then do it. You are worth it. If you don't have a good
pair of shoes, you won't want to walk anymore. Besides if you
spend more money on a good pair of shoes, they will last longer
then the cheaper ones. I usually wear New Balance-they make them
for wide feet. They will run you between $50-$70 dollars, but they
last about 1 yr and they are worth it.

I have two square blocks at the end of my legs and the only things that
seem to fit are New Balance sneakers. They come in 4EE, maybe higher.
Break the habit of buying inexpensive shoes. Do your body a favor, go to a
running store (or a Foot Locker) and try on some wide New Balance. Your
feet will thank you.

I agree with everyone else. Invest in some good shoes you won't regret it.
I do suggest that you also invest in some inserts to keep you from walking
on the sides of your feet. This should also keep your shoes from wearing
out so fast. Ask your Dr. or Chiropractor about the inserts. Good Luck
and keep up the great job.

I suggest you go to the Support Plus website. They have shoes in wide
sizes. My podiatrist about fell out of her chair when she saw my shoes she
was so impressed with their quality. I too used to walk on the sides, but
with a good pair of properly fitting shoes (I wear 11 W, down from a 13 WW)
my feet no longer run over the sides, I have no more foot pain or swelling.
I wear the Marathon walking shoe. One pair ($90) has lasted me for over a
year of daily wear now. It was well worth the cost. Good Luck!

I purchased a pair of New Balance shoes. I have big fat feet and my NB
shoes are a mens 4E. My feet feel like they are walking on a cloud. Plus
they give my feet a good push off and makes my legs and back feel
completely supported and correct. My mom purchased a pair of Rockport
Rocksports walking shoes. I tried them on and they feel so good. She found
them at Khol's and retail for $65, but go them for 40 some dollars. Kohl's
always have a good sale and good selection of sports shoes.

Jay,
Definetly New Balance !!! They come in a wide range of widths, both men's
and women's sizes, and they are soooo comfy. I am a 250 lb. pre-op. I go to
the gym 4-5 days a week and they are the only sneaker that doesn't leave me
with aching ankles and feet after exercise. Happy Walking !!

Just for information's sake, my chiropractor's assistant told me that
anything less than an 800 model New Balance shoe is not supportive enough
for stenuous training. She is a marathon trainer who probably weighs about
200 lbs. She's also a PT. She was saying that persons who are heavier
need a shoe that will hold up and New Balance models in the lower numbers
are not as durable. For what it's worth. Good luck!

I work in a hospital and wear my Nursemates all the time although I am
astounded by the overwhelming vote for New Balance. I would like to try
them too!

Jay, I have worn a lot of shoes, and worn out a lot of shoes (especially in
my years of doing hospital nursing!). I have found that price is not
necessarily an indicator of comfort! I found some walking shoes at Target,
Spaulding brand, that I got for $24.99 that have felt as good as anything I
have ever tried before! The women's shoes have a wider toe box, which
works well with my short, wide, fat feet. They also have a cushion in the
sole that allows air to flow back and forth through a chamber as you walk,
cuhsioning each step. I don't know if they make a verson of this for men,
but it's worth a shot to check them out. I have worn Rockports,
Naturalizers, Reeboks, Nikes - you name it, I have probably tried them in
the past.
