Question:
Has anyone been approved for WLS who weighs less than 250 lbs?

I was just approved and my weight is 237 pounds at 5'6". My insurance company took into consideration the comorbidities as well I think. My BMI was 38. Hope that helps.

I am 5'1" and 207 lbs and my PCP and surgeon say I qualify with a BMI of 39. My insurance company have verbally agreed that if my PCP says it's medically necessary, they will pay 100%. I'm sending in the paperwork next week....we'll see.

I had my surgery on January 15th, 2001. I weighed 236. I now weigh 193. I did have high blood pressure and acid reflux. I had a RNY done laporscopicly and am extremely pleased with the results. Good luck.
